Does anyone else remember the scene in Ferris Bueller with Grace and the pencils in her hair?
I've had the same sewing box for at least 15 years. I think I was about 7 or 8 when I got it making it up to 19 years old, as of the fall. I'm going to take a moment to sigh at how old I am.

Now that that's done, I went to sew something a little more heavy duty yesterday (a strap to Matt's hiking backpack) and went to find my heavy needle. I was looking at my needles thinking, I definitely have more than 3. What's going on? I then felt a needle stuck inside the pincushion on the inside lid. I got it out. It was the needle I was look for. I then felt another. Lather, rinse, repeat.

I ask you, internet, how many needles do you think I found?

14. Yes. FOURTEEN. There may be some others still stuck, I can't be sure.

Store update
In lieu of a pillow, you can buy your own crazy people t-shirt.

Send me to France, I'm a perfume expert
Yesterday I got a package from my dad. Among the contents (of which the single most odd item was a t-shirt from the Daytona Biker's rally from 2002) were some soaps and linen sprays from a small business in Vermont. My dad likes to send me spices, soup mixes, soaps, etc from little stores he finds around New England. Two of the bars are self explanatory but as I'm smelling "Vermont Spring Forest" the strongest scent is really bothering me. It's good, but I can't figure out where I've smelled it before.

It was comet.

All of a sudden I'm Danny Tanner.

t-meg to the max
I went to target yesterday to pick up a few things---a spiffy new digital scale (for accuracy and because I couldn't see the lines well without my glasses, the one I have has red bars, although the chrome would've been cooler if it was available), a nice wooden bookshelf that matches my dining set (it folds for easy moving, the only downside is that it is slightly smaller, four shelves to five, than I'm used to and can only hold 75lbs), a gift for some friends and their soon-to-be baby and a rubbermaid drawer set. The bookshelf is for my heap of books on the to-be-read list and the drawer set was because my retail therapy left my dresser over-stuffed. I already had one that I used for my many soccer/running t-shirts and I bought the wider model this time.

The two bottom drawers of the wider model are filled with t-shirts, the top is 3/4 full of long-sleeved t-shirts with a couple regular t-shirts and running socks. The older, smaller drawer set is now full of nicer t-shirts that I don't wear often, bathing suits, heavy woolen socks, trouser socks and stockings.

Needless to say I'm in a cleaning mood. The rest of the apartment will be cleaned tonight.

You may remember that two years ago I took this to the salvation army:

Clearly, I will have to make another trip before I move again. I mean, they're all nice shirts, I'm not sure which to get rid of. But I can wear a different shirt to work out for a couple months straight. Only like 2-3 months. That's not bad, right?
